Hi! Happy Thursday! The other night while brainstorming some different types of posts I could include on my blog I totally fell in love with the concept of sharing the books that I’m currently reading. So, for everyone one of these posts I’ll share what book(s) I’m #currentlyreading along with a few details about them and my current thoughts! I’m hoping (fingers crossed 🤞) in the future that I can turn this into a weekly post here, but for now we’ll take it one day at a time and focus on what books I’m #currently reading today: April 2nd, 2020.
1. Thunderhead by Neil Shusterman
Reading Spot: Pg 238/504
First Line of the Book: “Peach velvet with embroidered baby-blue trim. Honorable Scythe Brahms loved his robe. True, the velvet became uncomfortably hot in the summer months, but it was something he had grown accustomed to in his sixty-three years as a scythe” (1).
Since Thunderhead is a sequel I will not be providing a synopsis here (hello spoilers!). But, if you haven’t read Scythe already I would highly suggest you do so! These books have been on my TBR for ages and I’m glad that I finally picked them up. I’m really enjoying the new world exploration in Thunderhead along with how new topics are being explored! This book is truly captivating and hard to put down ; Schusterman is very talented with plot and I am hooked onto every second of it.
2. The Subtle Art of Not Giving a F*ck by Mark Manson
Reading Spot: Pg 125/255
First Line of the Book: “Charles Bukowski was an alcoholic, a womanizer, a chronic gambler, a lout, a cheapskate, a deadbeat, and on his worst days, a poet” (1).
This is not normally my kind of book. I mean, hello, if you’ve looked at my reviews or Instagram before you would know that I’m normally a YA type of girl. However, I decided to give this book a try… and I’ve been pleasantly surprised. The Subtle Art of Not Giving a F*ck has been more helpful and dare I say “life changing” than I expected. It’s really made me think about life, about values, and about myself. I’m loving it thus far, but I find that taking in so many big concepts to think about at once can be overwhelming, so I’ve been taking my reading of it very slowly thus far.
3. Jane Eyre by Charlotte Bronte
Reading Spot: Chapter 17
First line of the Book: “There was no possibility of taking a walk that day” (1).
First of all, let me just say, I’m reading this for school. And on that note there is a small (maybe .05%) chance of my teacher finding this post, so let me say this kindly: I am not enjoying this book very much. I rather like the idea of it, but I find sitting down and forcing myself through it to be a chore. It doesn’t seem like a terrible story, the writing is just dense and that makes reading it hard at times.
And, that concludes my list of the books that I’m #currentlyreading ! How about you? Leave a comment and talk to me about what you’re reading or give me a recommendation!
