I haven’t talked about it here on my blog before, but I am active subscriber to IPSY. IPSY is a monthly makeup subscription that has various levels, with $13 a month being the cheapest option. For this price every month I get a cute makeup bag, and five products ranging from samples to full size.
I began subscribing to IPSY in May of 2021 when I asked for it as a birthday present! I’ve always enjoyed makeup, but struggled to try different products and was limited by my budget. I thought trying IPSY would give me an opportunity to explore and would make it so I wouldn’t break the bank on new beauty items! So far I’ve been loving my subscription and today I’m sharing my review of my February IPSY package.
Packaging & First Thoughts
The bag for February is adorable! I love the color pink and the heart design is perfect. The colors are vivid and the quality was great. I especially loved the heart shaped charm that worked on the zipper!
The Products
The first product from my bag was the E222 – Your Right Path by MOTD Cosmetics brush. It’s a high precision brush that is specifically meant for highlighter, and eye shadow on the inner corner of the eye. While I do think this brush may come in handy for certain makeup looks, I can’t image it being a regular use brush for me.
I do have to admit. The sparkly handle is really pretty.
Second was Naked Cosmetics’ Peppermint Lip Scrub, which was my choice for the month. In the Winter I always find my lips to be suffering. I was wanting a lip scrub for some time and when I realized I could get one from my IPSY February package I knew I had to!
At the moment I am having mixed feelings on this product. It does feel nice when applied, but the texture isn’t what I expected. It doesn’t have the consistency of a scrub, it feels smooth and misses that texture I anticipated.
Next I received M2U NYC’s eyeshadow duo in “Cobble Hill”. I’ve previously used an eyeshadow duo from this brand and loved it, so I wasn’t surprised that this duo was also incredible. The pigmentation is nice, the eyeshadow lasts with minimal smudges, and the colors are perfect for a variety of looks.
The fourth item I got was a sample of Lanegie’s water sleeping mask. Funny enough, I already own a full size of this product! I use the sleep mask twice a week and it makes my skin feel amazing in the morning. It’s cool, and doesn’t feel uncomfortable or heavy once applied.
While I do appreciate that the sample matched my taste, It also wasn’t a necessary addition to my collection. I wish IPSY had a filter to mark products that you already owned/were uninterested in to prevent duplicates or unwanted products.
The last product is easily my favorite from February. Tresluce’s Intenso Liner in Icy. I’ve always wanted to try using white eye liner to make my eyes appear larger, and oh my gosh! This liner is incredible. It looks amazing on my lower lash line and doesn’t smudge. I wasn’t anticipating to love this item so much, but I’ve been using it with nearly every makeup look since I got it!
The Price
E222 – Your Right Path by MOTD Cosmetics brush – $10 (full size)
Naked Cosmetics’ Peppermint Lip Scrub – $10 (full size)
M2U NYC’s eyeshadow duo in “Cobble Hill” – 2oz Sample
Lanegie’s Water Sleeping Mask – Sample
Tresluce’s Intenso Liner in Icy – $12 (full size)
Total: $32 in full sized products & two samples. Not at all a bad price for a $13 bag!
Conclusion
February’s IPSY bag was definitely mixed. I loved the bag itself, but had mixed feelings about the products. I discovered some new favorites (like the white liner) and also got items I won’t be using frequently (like the brush). The price point for this bag is great considering the value of the items inside, and I’m super pleased with everything overall! I’m already counting down the days for my March IPSY to arrive, as I love getting a fun bag of makeup to my door every month.

This might sound terrible – but I forgot IPSY existed! I used to want a subscription so badly when it first became a thing, but as my life got busier and I began to focus less on fashion/makeup and more on books, I just completed spaced on it. But now that you’ve reminded me, I might have to look into them again. I love the idea of being able to try out a handful of new items each month!

That’s totally valid! I can image that with shifting the focus of your content there must be so much going on – it makes complete sense that this slipped off your radar! If you decide to give them a try, let me know. I’d be super curious to hear what you think!

I see a lot of unboxings on IPSY online! I feel like that is definitely a mixed bag for me, but the bag is so cute!

I love looking at different unboxings! It’s fun to see what products other people got. This month was less than amazing for me (I’ve had some months that are absolutely amazing, some not so much) but at the minimum I do love the bag!
