Synopsis:
“Mia’s best friend Robyn is known for her matchmaking skills, which is perfect, because homecoming is just around the corner. But Robyn refuses to set Mia up with the guy of her dreams, which forces Mia to take matters into her own hands. She uses Robyn’s matchmaking service to make sure popular Vince Demetrius falls for her.
Vince asks her out, but Mia doesn’t count on Logan, the persistent school newspaper photographer who seems to like her out of the blue. Now she has to choose between Vince – the guy she knows is right for her – and Logan, who insists that she give him a chance. And she needs to make sure Robyn doesn’t find out that Mia’s been matchmaking behind her back.
Mia has two weeks before homecoming. Can she fix the mess she made or will she have to kiss her perfect match goodbye forever?”
Wow, this book was such a cute and fluffy read! I actually decided to pick it up on a whim while in search of something to cheer me up and I’m happy to report after staying up until 1am to finish, I was definitely happier. This story was fast paced, easy to devour, and adorable. It is a great story to pick up and finish in one sitting; the fast pacing is just impossible not to be hooked on.
One of my favorite parts of this book was how real the crazy drama felt. I’ve never experienced anything quite like this in my time as a high school student, yet, it didn’t feel far fetched. Mia was a relatable character and I found myself connecting with her as she struggled to make a decision. I mean, to be fair, I’ve never had to choose between two boys vying for my attention… but the stress and emotions Mia felt while dealing with her situation felt authentic. I was even feeling a bit stressed out for her while reading this. Mia’s life just felt so candid; there were tons of factors for her to consider and feelings of those around her to juggle. It gave the story a really nice element of reality that made me feel like I could really get to know Mia!
Besides the stress factor, this book had a lot of adorable in it! The romantic scenes and tension were well written. Oh, and It didn’t hurt that Logan was such a sweet guy. Soft boys in YA honestly have my heart, Logan included.
The pacing in this book was written masterfully. It’ll truly keep you hooked until the very end! It was a crazy whirl-wind two week adventure of drama, romance, and friendship that will just suck you in.
The only reason I didn’t give this book a 5/5 stars isn’t actually a negative reason, I just simply wish there had been more book! I would read the crap out of the backstories of the side characters. I would have loved more chapters written about Mia’s relationships with her friends. Although this story was great as it was, and well written, I definitely would have enjoyed some more of the details about the world and characters. Hint hint, cough cough, PLEASE TELL ME THERE WILL BE NOVELLAS OR SOMETHING PLEASE, cough cough.
Overall, I did really enjoy this story. It was a great read to make me feel better that kept me swooning. Match Me If You Can is such a sweet and enjoyable story! It is fluffy and a perfect read for anytime of the year when you need your dose of contemporary fun.
