Synopsis:
“Ever since last year’s homecoming dance, best friends-turned-best enemies Zorie and Lennon have made an art of avoiding each other. It doesn’t hurt that their families are the modern-day Californian version of the Montagues and Capulets.
But when a group camping trip goes south, Zorie and Lennon find themselves stranded in the wilderness. Alone. Together.
What could go wrong?
With no one but each other for company, Zorie and Lennon have no choice but to hash out their issues via witty jabs and insults as they try to make their way to safety. But fighting each other while also fighting off the forces of nature makes getting out of the woods in one piece less and less likely.
And as the two travel deeper into Northern California’s rugged backcountry, secrets and hidden feelings surface. But can Zorie and Lennon’s rekindled connection survive out in the real world? Or was it just a result of the fresh forest air and the magic of the twinkling stars?”
Do you know how many hours of sleep I lost trying to finish this book? I decided to read it one night and couldn’t put it down. I read and enjoyed Alex, Approximately by this author and decided to give another book of hers a try and OH MY GOSH. Starry Eyes was adorable and the perfect book to destroy my sleep schedule over.
I adored the characters in this book. Zorie and Lennon were fun and quirky characters with an electric dynamic. I loved how nontraditional and unique these two were, they made the book even more enjoyable. Their hate-to-love romance is a perfect example in the YA world of how to write this trope masterfully. I couldn’t get enough of these two and I was in a constant state of swooning.
The plot of this book mixed with the different perfectly implemented tropes made this such a fun read. The hate-to-love and childhood friend/neighbor tropes were adorable and of course I can never get enough of the “two characters trapped together so they have to deal with their problems” trope. It was so well written and the plotting of their nature adventure was fun to read!
Starry Eyes was a delightful read that I couldn’t get enough of. It’s cute, quirky, and hard to put down! It’s the perfect summer read with unique characters who are AMAZING. I highly recommend this book!
