SYNOPSIS: “Lana Montgomery is everything the quirky small town of Moose Springs, Alaska can’t stand: a rich socialite with dreams of changing things for the better. But Lana’s determined to prove that she belongs…even if it means trading her stilettos for snow boots and tracking one of the town’s hairiest Christmas mysteries: the Santa Moose, an antlered Grinch hell-bent on destroying every bit of holiday cheer (and tinsel) it can sink its teeth into.
And really…how hard could it be?
The last few years have been tough on Rick Harding, and it’s not getting any easier now that his dream girl’s back in town. When Lana accidentally tranquilizes him instead of the Santa Moose, it’s clear she needs help, fast…and this could be his chance to finally catch her eye. It’s an all-out Christmas war, but if they can nab that darn moose before it destroys the town, Rick and Lana might finally find a place where they both belong…together.“
Mistletoe and Mr.Right was the charming sequel I was dreaming of. This is the perfect story to cozy up with during the winter for some much needed holiday antics and romance. And while I may have read it after Christmas passed, I still loved the holiday cheer that came through the pages.
I absolutely adored the two main characters in this story. Lana is a strong, independent woman, who has the secret desire to find a permanent home for herself. Rick is divorced, his business is falling apart, and he’s stuck at home with a cat that hates him. These two characters were so fun to read and their romance as *chef’s kiss*. Their chemistry was incredible and I couldn’t help but cheer for them throughout the entire book. As a bonus, it does feature the “one character gets sick & the other takes care of them” trope.
Additionally, it warmed my heart to return to Moose Springs after finishing the first book. The small town where these books are set is atmospheric, cozy, and it wouldn’t shock me if it was real. The details are perfect. I loved seeing the town continue to progress and seeing it be such a large part of the book. I have such a soft spot in my heart for Moose Springs, and I can’t wait to continue reading about it in future installments of the series. The author has an amazing talent for bringing the town to life, and it feels incredibly real and authentic.
One thing that bothered me in the first book (see my review here) was the length of the chapters/plot. I felt like the chapters were extremely long and therefore, the plot dragged. However, I didn’t feel that here at all. I felt like the plot and chapter lengths were more balanced and while the book is long (nearly 12 hours on audiobook) it didn’t drag and I felt entirely engaged. (PS. The audiobooks for these books are fantastic! Highly recommend).
Overall, I really enjoyed this sequel! While I did like the first book, I loved this one. I’m already starting my audiobook listen of the next book in the series and I am so excited. There is something so warm and comforting about Moose Springs, and I could read an endless amount of stories set in that town.
